Over the past few years, we painted indoors—at home, in the studio, and in the classroom. Enclosed spaces with restricted views confined us to narrow, compressed frames. Meanwhile, it felt as if we wanted to arrive at a shared language in painting by some unspoken agreement. A language that made it possible to understand each other more clearly, through which we could speak and continue to stay together across our differences.
